Archives Holdings: WHO Radio Collection _______________________________________________________ |
|
In May 2005, a collection of transcription discs from the archives of WHO Radio was donated to the Archives. This material dates back to the 1930s and includes both national and local programs and commercials. There are more than 1,000 discs in this collection.
The station donated the rest of its audio
collection to the Archives. This includes reel-to-reel and cassette
tapes, as well as documents and photos from the history of WHO-AM and
its sister FM stations. An extension collection of sports play-by-play
is included, as well as a complete set of tapes from the historic Des
Moines flood of 1993. More than 2,500 tapes, in a variety of
formats, are included.
